The president of the North Carolina Community College System, R. Scott Ralls, will deliver the commencement address at the 2013 graduation exercises for Beaufort County Community College to be held May 16.
BCCC graduation exercises begin at 7 p.m. at the Washington High School Performing Arts Center. Admission is by ticket, available from members of the 2013 graduating class.
Ralls is the seventh president of the North Carolina Community College System, which includes 58 campuses across the state. As president, he oversees the day-to-day operations of the system’s office in Raleigh and advocates for the community-college system before the Legislature, among other duties.
He holds a doctorate in industrial and organizational psychology from the University of Maryland, a bachelor’s degree with highest distinction from the University of North Carolina, and, in 2007, was elected the 10th honorary fellow of Warwickshire College in Warwickshire, England.
Before being named system president, Ralls was president of Craven Community College. He is only the second former North Carolina community college president to hold the system presidency.
Ralls, who serves on several national and state boards and commissions, is chairman of the National Council of State Directors of Community Colleges.
