Robert Otha Burton

 Mr. Robert Otha Burton passed away peaceably (after two strokes) March 23, 2013. He was born on August 4, 1938 in Vanceboro, N.C. Robert Otha graduated from Farm Life High School in Vanceboro in 1956. He spent four years in the U.S. Air Force maintaining weapon control systems for fighter jets.

He worked for Hughes Air Craft in Los Angeles for 10 years and has resided in Las Vegas, Nevada since 1995. He was the owner and operator of the Environment Center in Las Vegas.

 Robert Otha was an avid runner and bicycle rider. He also enjoyed Western Line Dancing, his Classic ’69 Chevy and annual visits to North Carolina for Farm Life High School and family reunions.

He is survived by sister, Linda Burton Gilmore of Redondo Beach, CA and brothers, Charlie Burton of Pleasanton, CA, Al Burton of Henderson, NV and J.T. Burton of Hampton, VA.

 A graveside service for friends and family will be held 12 Noon Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the “Old” Vanceboro Cemetery on Mill and West Railroad Street in Vanceboro, conducted by Travis Boyd. A reception/lunch will be held following the service at Vera’s Diner, 8168 Main Street, Vanceboro.
