Two teens charged with felony larceny

On May 15, a report of suspicious activity near a River Road residence turned out to be a break-in and deputies caught one thief in the act of fleeing, according to a press release from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Derrick Andrew Cannon, 18, of Jack Street, Washington, was arrested after running on foot from Investigators in the wooded area behind the home. Cannon was charged with resist, delay, obstruct an officer. Traymar Daquiez Pope, 18, of South Asbury Church Road, Washington, was arrested the next day. Both were charged with of felony breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering.

According the press release, deputies arrived at the scene and noticed the back door of the residence had been pried open. Missing were a TV, loose change and a stun gun—some items were returned after a search of the woods; more was found during a search of the wooded area behind the home, said the release.

Cannon was held at the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $10,500 bond; Pope, under at $10,000 bond.
