GREENVILLE — Mr. James H. Warren, Jr., 88, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at his home.

 

A celebration of his life will be conducted Thursday at 7pm at Snowd Branch Church of God, officiated by Pastor Jerry Waters. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 11am in Pinewood Memorial Park.  Charles Tripp, Mark Tripp, Pat Tripp, Ray Woolard, Russell Warren, and Jimmy Warren will serve as pallbearers.

 

James, a native of Pitt County, was born February 16, 1925 to the late James H. Warren, Sr. and Nannie Gray Warren. He served in the United States Army and the United States Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Meadowbrook VFW. His love for the outdoors included hunting, fishing, and gardening.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two sisters, Hattie Rae Woolard and Daisy Lee Tripp; and his two brothers, Alton and Norman Warren.

 

He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Evelyn Mills Warren; son, James Ronald Warren, both of the home; daughter, Susan Leggett and husband, Phillip; granddaughter, Sherry Everett and husband, Jeffrey, all of Washington; two grandsons, Michael Warren and wife, Angela of Bear Grass and Stewart Warren of Greenville; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved and appreciated.

 

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 7 pm at the church.
