Our waterfront is our prime economic-development factor. If we do not have security on our waterfront, visitors from nearby towns will quit coming, thus not eating in our restaurants or shopping downtown. Last Friday night, there were large groups of young people roving from one end of the waterfront to the other, yelling, using profanity, taking over the children’s playground, vandalizing. The solution is simple. We see it in other towns we visit. We need a policeman on foot Friday and Saturday nights, walking the waterfront. Also, put an empty police car that’s not being used in different parking lots. These problems have been ignored too long. Let’s solve it now.
