Mrs. Marie Caraway McRoy, age 72 a resident of Newport, NC and a former resident of Beaufort County died Tuesday May 28, 2013 at Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City, NC.

 

A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM on Saturday June 1, 2013 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by Derik Davis.

 

The family will receive friends 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday May 31, 2013 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and following the service at the home of Mrs. McRoy’s sister Joan Nicholson located at 160 Haddock Dr., Vanceboro, NC.

 

Mrs. McRoy was born in Pamlico County on August 9, 1940 daughter of the late Clifford Harvey Caraway, Sr. and the late Mable Marie Ivey Caraway.  She attended Pamlico County Schools and married Hilton Ray McRoy on August 9, 1954 who preceded her in death on August 23, 1993.  Mrs. McRoy worked as a Personal Assistant in the health care field after working thirty years at Singer Furniture in Chocowinity.

 

Mrs. McRoy is survived by a son: Hildren Ray McRoy and wife Mary Lee of Newport; a daughter: Judy Annette Boyd and husband Nicky Nichols of Smithfield; a sister: Joan Nicholson of Vanceboro; a brother: William Albert Caraway of Alabama; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
