Ola Corinne Woolard

Mrs. Ola Corinne Woolard, age 103, a resident of Braddy Rd., Washington, NC, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at her home. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, June 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Zion Episcopal Church, Washington, NC officiated by The Rev. Barbara Chaffee. A reception for family and friends will be held in the church parish hall. The family will travel in procession for the committal service at Oakdale Cemetery following the reception.
Mrs. Woolard was born in Pinetown on February 15, 1910 daughter of the late Henry Jarvis and Cora Waters Braddy. She attended Bath High School and in December 1927 married Leslie E. Woolard, Sr. She was very active with the Beaufort County Blind Center where she was well known for her volunteer work, and particularly for her basket weaving and crafts. She was recognized by the Governor of North Carolina as Volunteer of the Year for Beaufort County. She was also active at Trinity Episcopal Church well past her 100th birthday until returning to Zion Episcopal Church where she was a lifelong member. She was a clerk with F.W. Woolworth Department Store, Sermon’s Tobacco Warehouse, Star Cleaners and Coca-Cola Bottling Co.
Mrs. Woolard is survived by her sons, Linwood Earl Woolard of Washington, Myron Thomas Woolard and wife Betty of Richmond, VA and Leslie E. Woolard, Jr. and wife Cornelia of Cary, NC; 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Braddy, Jr. and her sisters, Eloise King and Grace Rowe.
