Alice Purvis Fields

Minister Alice Purvis Fields, 82, of 3962 N.C. Highway 32 North, Plymouth, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Wake Medical Center, Raleigh.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at First Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church with pastor Wayne Welch officiating. Burial will follow in First Zion Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Fields was born on November 7, 1930, in Washington County. She was the daughter of the late Otis and Mable Williams Purvis. She was a member of First Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church, member of the Senior Choir, Christian Light Club, Financial Committee of Albemarle Union, Mother of the Church, Missionary, Minister, and representative for Albemarle Union Scholarship Committee and retired school cafeteria worker. Her husband, Matthew Fields, Sr., preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons: Matthew Fields, Jr., of Plymouth, Reverend Sammy M. Fields, Belvidere, Avondale Fields, Clayton; three daughters: Alice Marie Jones, Plymouth, Sheriene Atton, Mable L. Fields, both of Raleigh; two brothers: David Purvis, Clarence Purvis, both of Roper; two sisters: Ruth Patrick, Doris J. Norman, both of Roper; and 22 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends frm 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Toodle’s Funeral Home and other times at the home.
