Beaufort County Educational Technology Center graduated 40 students in a ceremony held at Beaufort County Community College Saturday morning.
Principal Willard Bryant said the Class of 2013 was a great group of students.
“Every year – and this is my fourth year here – the graduating class has had a unique quality. And this group was no exception,” he said after the ceremony. “Along with the difficulties and struggles to get this class to go through, the bottom line was to get them their diplomas. And they did that.”
In his student address, Corey Dixon, Jr. credited the faculty with his success.
“As much as I tried to get off the right track, they were there to push me back on,” he said.
The theme of the ceremony was “Overcoming Obstacles and Achieving Success.” In her commencement address, local attorney Watsi Sutton told students it was not always the swift or strong who came out on top, but the persistent.
“Without a struggle, you would not know your own strength or the depth of your character,” Sutton said. “Whatever your struggle, you made it. We celebrate you.”
