Albert Louis McMicken Sr.

Albert Louis McMicken, Sr., 80, of 409 Idalia Road, Aurora, was promoted to Glory on Sunday, June 16, 2013 in Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville, NC. with his wife and his oldest son at his side. Mr. McMicken was born on Dec. 3 1932, in Houston, Texas, and was the son of the late Louella Sherrouse McMicken Roecker and Louis Wilburn McMicken.

Mr. McMicken was a retired Mechanical Engineer from Texas Gulf (Currently named PCS Phosphate). He was a member of White Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church, the Aurora Lions Club, Beaufort County Grange, and the Aurora Masonic Lodge. He served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War.  He was also a graduate of Lamar University in Texas.

Surviving include his wife Lexa Edwards McMicken, his two sons: Albert Louis McMicken, Jr and wife Kay of Charlotte, NC and Michael Layne McMicken and wife Nancy of Chesterfield, VA; his stepdaughter Sabrina Upton Edwards and husband Bruce of Rocky Mount, NC; three grandchildren:  Benjamin Ryan McMicken, Jonathan Michael McMicken, and Christopher Layne McMicken, and seven step-grandchildren:  Jamie Rowe, Michael Rowe, Brandon Bennett, Rebekah Hardy, Crystal Edwards, Brittany Fennell, and Christian Naiman. He is also survived by two special sisters-in-law: Wilma Barta and her husband Buster of Sour Lake, Texas, and Earlene Barta of Hull, Texas, several nieces and nephews, and great-grandchildren.

 Mr. McMicken spent three-and-a-half years touring the United States with his wife Lexa and special friends Webster and Bonnie Walker of Aurora.

 Mr. McMicken is preceded in death by his first wife, Viola Margie Smithey McMicken, his son David Leonard McMicken, his sister Jerri Ann Machann, and his brother, Robert Charles McMicken.

 The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, 7:00-9:00 PM, at White Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church on Highway 306 South in Aurora, and at other times at their home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in White Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Wesley Taylor, Reverend George Jones, and Dr. Robert Cayton officiating.
