Harold “Bill” Draper Jr.

Mr. Harold Alfred “Bill” Draper, Jr., age 87, a resident of 387 Main Street, Pinetown, NC died Saturday June 15, 2013 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Center of Washington.

A funeral service was held 2 p.m. Monday June 17, 2013 at Five Points Free Will Baptist Church officiated by Pastor David Young and Rev. Tom Lilley. Burial followed in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Grandsons: Eric Leslie and Reggie Gimlin and deacons of Five Points FWB Church Wade Biggs, Paul Boyd, Neal Boyd and Mark Bowen served as pallbearers.

The family received friends Monday 12:30 to the funeral hour at the church and other times at the home.

Mr. Bill was born in Macoupin County, IL on April 10, 1926 son of the late Harold A. Draper, Sr. and the late Margaret Ware Hagaman Draper. He married the former Alma Louise Cope on June 9, 1984 who survives.  He served his country in the Merchant Marines, U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. During his military career he served during WW II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam.  After his military career he worked as a production mechanic at Emerson Electric in St. Louis, MO.  Following his retirement in 1990 he moved to Pinetown. He was a member of Five Points FWB Church, Pinetown Senior Citizens, Washington Post 15 American Legion and a past member of the VFW.

Surviving along with Mr. Bill’s wife Alma of the home is a son: Stephen Mark Draper-Leslie; a daughter: Cyndy Meyer of Columbia, MO six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
