Miss Geneva Dean Warren, age 73, a resident of River Trace Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and formerly of John Small Ave., passed away Friday, July 5, 2013 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital. There will be a celebration of her life today at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service officiated by Marty Alligood and Mike Caton. Special music will be provided by Genevieve Gillis and Martha McDonald. Steve Carrow, Shane Lewis, Bill Rose, Eric Singleton, Donnie B. Woolard, Jr. and Donnie B. Woolard, Sr. will serve as pallbearers. A private burial will be held at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends today from 2:00 PM until the funeral hour at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy 264 E., Washington, NC. The family will also receive friends at the home of Sallie Woolard, 1234 Betsy Elbow Rd., Washington, NC.

Miss Warren was born March 1, 1940 in Beaufort County, daughter of the late Furney and Ruby Boyd Warren. She was a 1958 graduate of Washington High School and later worked with the FBI for 13 years. Miss Warren also worked for the Social Security Administration in Mecklenburg County and more recently worked with Rose’s and K-Mart Department Stores. She was a member of Rosemary Church of Christ.

Miss Warren is survived by her sisters, Sallie A. Woolard (Hertford) and Daphine W. Singleton (Cecil) both of Washington and Sylvia W. Carrow (Steve) of Aurora; her brother, Hassell Ray Warren of Harrisburg, NC; her sisters-in-law, Marie Alligood and Pam Warren both of Washington and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, J. R. Alligood, Owen Warren and Furney Mitchell Warren and her sister, Evelyn Alligood Wallace and her husband Levin and her sister-in-law, Audrey Warren Davis.

The family suggests that memorials in Geneva’s memory be made to Rosemary Church of Christ, 5226 Slatestone Rd., Washington, NC 27889.
