Mr. Walter Murrel Johnson, age 49, a resident of Belhaven, died Saturday July 13, 2013 at his home.

Memorial services will be 3:00 pm Wednesday July 17, 2013 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and will be conducted by Craig Hagen and Dean Fulford.

Mr. Johnson was born in Beaufort County on February 16, 1964 to the late Riley Richard Johnson, Sr. and Rennie Fulford Johnson who survives. He was a 1982 graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School, was employed as a deputy in law enforcement, served as the resource officer for Northside High School and was a member of the American Legion.  Mr. Johnson served in the United States Navy.

Survivors include his mother, Rennie F. Johnson of Belhaven, one brother, Riley Richard Johnson, Jr. and wife Deb of Belhaven, his loving dog Max and a large loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Isaiah and Mae Fulford of Pamlico Beach and paternal grandparents, Edwin and Ada Johnson of the South Creek Community of Aurora.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 2:45 pm prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the home of his mother Rennie Johnson, 381 Wright’s Creek Rd., Belhaven.
