Bonner Lee Garris

Bonner Lee Garris, age 71, a resident of 559 Swan Point Road, Washington, NC entered into eternal peace on July 20, 2013.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday July 24, 2013 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Rev. Doug Spivey. Bonner will be laid to rest in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers will be David Townsend, Ray Garris, B.J. Holland, Trevor Edwards, Joel Edwards, Landon Temple, Andrew Keech, and Daryl Alligood. The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday July 23, 2013 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

Bonner was born in Beaufort County on December 14, 1941 son of the late William Jessie Garris Jr. and “Stella” Wallace Garris of Washington. He is preceded in death by his wife Patricia “Annette” Garris who passed away on June 27, 2013 and who he married on October 8, 1960. He owned a masonry business for thirty plus years. Bonner and his wife owned and ran a concession business for eight years. He worked at Brinson Welding and Machine for ten years. He and his wife Pat enjoyed traveling and fishing. Bonner had a heart of gold and saw the good in everyone regardless of their faults. He loved everyone genuinely and would drop everything to help someone in need. Though he was blind he saw the good in everyone.

Survivors include: Jamie Garris and wife Robin of Washington, Veronica Leigh Johnson and husband Artie of Aulander and Rhonda Garris Thomas of Jacksonville; grandchildren: Brandi Garris Smith and husband Tim of Oklahoma City, OK, Brandan “B.J.”  Garris of Washington, Anthony and Caleb Johnson of Aulander and Austin and Abby Thomas of Jacksonville and great grandchildren: Brandan James Garris, Jr. of Yonkers, NY and Trey Smith of Oklahoma City, OK and brothers: Major Garris and wife Nellie of Bayview, Phil Garris and wife Mary of Washington.
