On June 26, 2013, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a registered sex offender that had failed to respond to an address verification request by the state. Deputies collected information and filed a report to begin an investigation.

As a result, Investigator Jim Adams applied for and obtained warrants charging Raydell Grimes, 59, of Highway 306 South, Aurora, with one count of failure to register by a sex offender. Grimes turned himself in at the Beaufort County magistrates’ office on Aug. 5 and was taken before Magistrate Jasper Mills. Grimes was released on a $1,500 unsecured bond.
