Myrtle Phillips Blakey

Myrtle Phillips Blakey, age 84, a resident of Pamlico Plantation, Washington, NC and formerly of Wauwatosa, WI passed away Monday, August 5, 2013 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital. There will be a celebration of her life Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 4:00 PM at Zion Episcopal Church officiated by the Rev. Barbara Chaffee. The family will receive friends following the service in the Parish Hall. Interment will follow the visitation in the church cemetery.

Myrtle was born February 25, 1929 in Cumberland, WI daughter of the late Everett and Lola Porter Phillips. She graduated from Superior Normal School in Superior, WI with a degree in teaching. Myrtle married John Warren Blakey who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and had lived in Beaufort County since 1984. Myrtle was a member of Zion Episcopal Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Blakey Estes (Allen) of San Luis Obispo, CA; her son, Mark Everett Blakey (Rhonda) of Port St. Lucie, FL; her brother, Samuel Phillips of Shelbyville, IN; and her grandchildren, Jacqueline and John Estes and Benjamin Blakey.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lois Carey, Katherine Girard and Margaret Thomas.
