Lynn Watson Moore, age 56, a resident of 827-A Daniels Street, Raleigh and former resident of Washington died Tuesday morning August 20, 2013 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh after a courageous two year battle with ALS.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday August 24, 2013 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by Ray West. Chad Horton, Daniel Smith, Dal Lilley, Stan Lilley, Lee Moore and Mark Hall will serve as pallbearers. A celebration of Lynn’s life will be held at a later date at the Church of the Holy Cross in Raleigh.
Lynn was born in Beaufort County on December 8, 1956, son of the late Marilyn Watson Moore and Lawrence Shelton Moore, Sr. who survives. He was a 1975 graduate of Washington High School and a 1978 graduate of Appalachian State University. Lynn taught for several years in the Wake County School System and was later employed by the College Foundation, Inc. as long as his health permitted. Lynn was an avid ultimate Frisbee player as well as all outdoor sports and enjoyed spending summer vacations at the family home on the Neuse River. Lynn was a member of Church of the Holy Cross in Raleigh and was a member of the praise and worship team there.
Lynn is survived by his father Shelton Moore and wife, Frances; his brother: Larry Moore and wife Shelia; his nieces: Jamie Lyn Smith and husband Daniel and their children, Hudson Wrenn and Dawson Wake and Lauren Horton and husband Chad and their daughter Blaine Watson. In addition to his mother, Lynn is preceded in death by two sisters: Sherilyn Marie and Sharon Elizabeth.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Lynn’s primary caregivers, Carolyn Herbert and Geoff Page.
The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the home of his brother Larry located at 403 Blount Place, Washington, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in memory of Lynn to the Church of the Holy Cross, 2301 West Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27612.
