June Neal Jones, 84, formerly of Engelhard and more recently residing in Tennessee, died on Monday, August 26, 2013, at Hospice House in Williamsburg, VA where she became ill while visiting.
Born in Hyde County, June 22, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Harold Jones and Mamie Ruth Payne Neal. She was married to Herbert Steven Jones, Jr. who preceded her in death in 1991.
Mrs. Jones was a dedicated Christian and worked in prior years with The FBI, Christian Broadcasting Network and served as a volunteer with God’s Spiritual Network for Addiction while living in Florida and served wives and children who were abused. She loved to read and study the Holy Bible, enjoyed gardening, and had a passion for history and the heritage of Hyde County. She also had a love for animals.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Soule United Methodist Church, Swan Quarter. Pastor Jerald Craddock will officiate. Burial will follow in Fulford Cemetery, Engelhard.
Surviving are a son, Steven Neal Jones, and wife, Stephanie of Williamsburg, VA; two daughters, Valerie Jones Taylor and husband, Ronald of Kingston, TN, and Robin Jones Dempster of Chattanooga TN; seven grandchildren, Kristan, Timothy, Rachel, Allison, Christopher, Ashley and Lindsey; eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Neal Ballance.
