Sumerlin joins medical practice

M. Lue Sumerlin has joined Gregory L. Jones, MD, at the 161 E. Water St. office of Vidant Family Medicine–Belhaven as a family nurse practitioner.

Certified as a family nurse practitioner and registered nurse, Sumerlin comes to Vidant Family Medicine–Belhaven from Vidant Medical Center, where she served on its pain-management team for the past five years. Sumerlin has held positions at ECU Family Medicine Hospitalist Care, Vidant Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Physicians East Cardiology, East Carolina Family Practice and the Minor Emergency Department at Vidant Medical Center, all in the eastern North Carolina area.

Sumerlin received her master of science in nursing–family nurse practitioner degree from East Carolina University and completed her undergraduate work at Atlantic Christian College, now Barton College. Her areas of special interest include family medicine, adolescent health and education and disease prevention for all ages.

“I am excited about living and working in the Belhaven community,” said Sumerlin. “Over the years, I have enjoyed meeting and building relationships with people in this area. I look forward to becoming a permanent resident and establishing longevity with Dr. Jones at Vidant Family Medicine–Belhaven.”
