Meet Ms. Margie Dixon McGowan Smiley. She is the founder of Stanadyne Golden Girls and Guys. Her idea stemmed from her love and concern for a former friend and co-worker who was ill. Ms. Margie can testify that Proverbs Chapter 29 verse 18 is true, “Where there is no vision, the people perish…”
The mission of this group is: Let’s reach out and touch one another during our golden years! The group started with nine females (former friends and co-workers) and one guest in May 2013. We now have 25 golden girls and guys who meet for delicious lunch, fun and fellowship.
Ms. Margie is a retiree of Stanadyne Corporation. Prior to her retirement with 19 years of service, she worked as assembler II, First Aid attendant and Quality Circle leader. Many people knew her too from Scott Super Market where she served as a head cashier. Still young at heart during her golden years, Ms. Margie also serves as a volunteer at her church and the American Red Cross Blood Mobile. Ms. Margie enjoys meeting and serving the people. She truly has been blessed with people skills where her light shines so brightly.
Come and join us (Stanadyne Golden Girls and Guys) at King Chicken on the fourth Friday of every month at 11:30 a.m. (unless noted). This is where you will meet one of the friendliest groups who will brighten your day.
