Programs are under way at the library! On Nov. 6 – 8, children from the community, area daycares and public and private schools will be attending story time at the Belhaven Public Library. The November theme is “Apples! Apples! And More Apples!”
On Nov. 7, Cross Creek Health Care Center in Swan Quarter and Nov. 21, Autumnfield of Belhaven will be seeing Joan Bogun with her bag full of surprises.
If the movie “Catching Fire” is stirring up some excitement, then one would want to be sure to join Tania Corey at the library to see the movie on Nov. 15 at 3:30 p.m. Watch where it all began! The movie is free to everyone.
“Special Kids” at Northeast Elementary will be getting yet another visit from Joan Bogun. Wonder what the new challenge will be for November?
The circus has come to the Belhaven Public Library! Don and Marjie Stark are sharing their circus train collection. The collection is located in the display case located in the front hall of the library. It will be on display through the month of November. During the month of December (Dec. 7-8; Dec. 13-15 and Dec. 20-21), the complete collection of trains will be set up and operating at the Belhaven Old Town Hall. Stop by and enjoy them!
On a daily basis, the staff at the library helps patrons with job searches and applications, class assignments, testing and various computer needs. The computers have become a vital part of library service. The sad part of all of this is the computers desperately need replacing. Four to five computers are needed for public use and three computers are needed to upgrade the staff equipment.
All monies collected by the Friends of the Belhaven Public Library for the remainder of 2013 and until July 2014 will go toward replacing the computers. A community effort is needed to reach this goal, so seriously consider joining the Friends of the Belhaven Public Library (membership dues will also go to the computer fund).
The Belhaven Public Library Board and Friends will be holding their joint annual meeting on Monday, Nov. 4, at 6 p.m. at the library. Please attend and show your support.
The library is a non-profit organization that supports the needs of the community. For more information about joining Friends of the Belhaven Public Library, call 252-943-2993. The library is located at 333 E. Main St., Belhaven.
