Timothy Ross Carter

Tim Carter passed away Friday, October 18th surrounded by his family. Tim was born in Pasadena, California.

Tim was an Army veteran who served in Vietnam under the 82nd and 101st Airborne. He traveled extensively until settling in North Carolina in 1975.  He married his wife, Nellie, on January 9, 1977.  Tim retired from PCS Phosphate in 2011 and enjoyed his retirement at home and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie; his three daughters, Beth, and husband, Lee Mason, Joanna, and her fiance’, Dwight Hooker and Robin, and her husband, Bill Smith; also survived by three grandchildren, Gabriel and Morgan Mason, and Julia Smith. He is survived by six sisters and two brothers, Tina, Carol, Nikki, Susan, Janet, Diane, Jim and Rick; and his mother, Mary Jo Swift.

He is preceeded in death by his grandparents, Marion and Ethel Hutchinson and Oliver and Eva Carter; his father, Rolland “Nick” Carter and sister, Mary Elizabeth Carter.

Tim was a great friend, loving father, grandfather and devoted husband. He is a wonderful man who is going to be missed by so many.

His memorial service will be held Saturday, November 9th at the Aurora Community Center at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Cancer Society.
