Fifty years may have passed, but Chocowinity High School graduates relived the golden years of their teens at their high school reunion on Saturday, Nov. 2.

According to graduate Louise Smith Furman, 25 members of the Class of 1963 gathered at the Golden Corral.

“We really had a great time catching up on each one’s lives for the past years,” Furman said. “And good food was enjoyed by all.”

In attendance were Furman and her husband Harlie; Ruth Warren Dail and husband Billy; Patsy McRoy; Judy Mobley Weston and husband Phil; Nell Smith Godfrey and husband James; Brenda Mayo Cox with husband Steel; Jean Cutler Boykin, Earl Rascoe and wife Betty; Linwood Broadway and wife Jo; Phillip Woolard; Ronnie Clark and wife Jean; Ottis Cox and wife Carolyn; Earl Tyson; and Willie Crisp and wife Shelia.

Furman said members of the class suggested they get together once a year in the future, but it was decided the class will reunite again in 2018 to celebrate 55 years since they day they donned cap and gown and received their diplomas.

“We’d like some feedback from the classmates,” Furman said.

Furman suggested classmates call members of the reunion committee to weigh in.
