Edward Baytala

Mr. Edward Baytala, age 88, a resident of 102 Main Street, Chocowinity, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at his home.
Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, November 29, 2013 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington, conducted by Rev. David Linton.
Mr. Baytala was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on June 8, 1925. He was the son of the late Theodore and Victoria Baytala. During World War II, Mr. Baytala served in the U.S. Air Force as a member of the 379th Bombardment Group. He was Master Control Room operator at WITN-TV for many years. Mr. Baytala attended the First Baptist Church in Chocowinity as long as his health permitted. In his spare time, Mr. Baytala enjoyed gardening and bird watching.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Juanita Peed Baytala of the home; his children, Harry J. Phelps and wife, Brenda of Chocowinity, Linda J. Buck of Greenville; Scott Baytala of Chocowinity; grandchildren, Kimberly P. Swain of Aurora, Michelle and Jeremy Phillips of Leland, Kari and Joshua Leggett of Greenville, Scott Baytala, Jr. of Buies Creek; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington and other times at the home.
