Dale Dennis Brooks, a resident of Washington, NC died Sunday December 29, 2013, at home surrounded by family.

A celebration of life will be held 4:00 PM Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Church of the Good Shepherd, Washington, NC overseen by Pastor Jay Martin.

The family will receive friends after the celebration at his home located at 112 Sunnyside Drive, Washington NC.

Mr. Brooks was born in Cleveland OH on September 28, 1938, son of the late Samuel Robert Brooks and Rose Mary Schall. He was a graduate of Greenville High School. On November 24, 1964, he married Elizabeth “Betty” Boyert who survives.

Dale Brooks was a self-made man; multiple entrepreneur of several successful businesses, including Karate International, Terrydale Printing and finally developer and founder of Computer Dynamics, a nationally-known software estimating program for the printing industry. In addition, Mr. Brooks was the writer and editor of the “Who’s Who” series of American martial arts anthologies.

In addition to his wife Betty, he is survived by his brother, Brad Enoch Brooks, sister, Barbara Magahey and brother-in-law Ron Magahey; sons, Sammy Brooks and wife Wendy Guan Brooks of Tianjin, China, Thumper Brooks, wife Rebecca Brooks and grandson Bodie Brooks of Washington NC, Brad Brooks of Grimesland NC, Terry Mitchell and wife Rhonda Mitchell of Reidsville, NC; and daughter Sandra Moran-Anderson, husband Greg Anderson and grandson Alec Moran of Henderson, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
