Katie Swindell Harris, 86, of 384 Lazy Lane, Engelhard and most recently a resident of Cross Creek Health Care, died Sunday February 2, 2014.

Born in Hyde County on July 16, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Betty Litchfield Swindell. She spent most of her working years with Harris Barber shop in Engelhard.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in Fulford Cemetery. Leon Williams will officiate.

Surviving is a daughter; Kay Gibbs of Engelhard; three grandchildren, Darkis Selman, Shana Lee Mooney, Kaitlynn Nicole Byrd; eight great-grandchildren, Erica D. Selman, Dillon R. Selman, Kayley E. Selman, Xander B. Mooney, Ansia D. Mooney, Brian C. Byrd, Jr., Hailey C. Byrd and Jacquelyn H. Byrd.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Thomas Swindell.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
