Mr. Charles Leon “Charlie” Arnold, age 66, a resident of 100 Farm Lane, Washington, NC, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Paul Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Pastor Keith Hudson. Interment will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at a later date.
Mr. Arnold was born in Sarasota County, Florida on July 31, 1947 to the late Charles Jordan Arnold and Ruby Lovelady Arnold. On November 15, 1973, Mr. Arnold married the former Betty Frances Holland, who survives. Mr. Arnold worked as an auto mechanic with Bell’s Starter and Alternator of Washington and Billy Tibbs Automotive in Osprey, Florida. Mr. Arnold served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of Vietnam, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars. He was a past member of the Greenville Vietnam Veterans organization and was a member of Riverview Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Betty, Mr. Arnold is survived by his children, Charles Gilbert Arnold and wife Dawn of Plymouth, NC and Jennifer Arnold Waters of Ayden, NC, a brother, Robert Arnold of Osprey, Florida, a sister, Dru Ezell of Sarasota, Florida, and grandchildren, Daniel Beradi, Haylee Simpkins, David Simpkins III, Kaiah Smith and Scout Arnold.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Arnold is preceded in death by a daughter, Christy Lee Arnold and a brother, Harold Ray Arnold.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
