Bennie Clifton Williams, 83, of 1085 Peanut Lane, Williamston, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.

Mr. Williams was born in Martin County on Oct. 9, 1930, and was the son of the late Clyde and Fannie Roberson Williams.  A retired farmer, he was a member of Holly Springs United Methodist Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Reuben Williams.

Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Nancy Schwartz Williams; his brother, Joe Williams of Wilmington; two nieces; one nephew; and his two furry companions, “Sassy” and “Smut Butt”.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. in Holly Springs United Methodist Church by the Rev. Forrest Smith. Visitation will follow the services.
