Mr. Joseph Howard Gaskins, Jr., age 76, a resident of 864 Braddy Road, Washington, NC, died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 11:00a.m. at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Kent Gurganus.

Mr. Gaskins was born in Beaufort County on June 12, 1938. He was born to the late Joseph Howard Gaskins and Jessie Vaughn Gaskins. He graduated from Pantego High School class of 1956. Mr. Gaskins served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Gaskins He was a member of Free Union Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Gaskins was retired from Tri-County Telephone after having worked for Carolina Telephone & Telegraph and Tri-County Telephone for thirty years. On June 16, 1972, he married the former Lou Ann Woolard, who survives.

In addition to his wife, of the home, Mr. Gaskins is survived by a sister, Joyce G. Winfield and husband Dan of Oldsmar, Florida.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 6:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home located at 864 Braddy Road, Washington, NC 27889.
