Mr. Leslie Alston “Al” Cutler, Jr., age 65, of 810 Avenue Road, Washington, NC, died on Friday, February 21, 2014 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm Sunday February 23, 2014 at Old Ford Church of Christ, officiated by Eddie Bowen. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens of Washington.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Bryant Buck, Dodge Buck, Frankie Buck, Troy Buck, David Chrismon, Bryan Modlin, and Jeffrey Modlin. The Old Ford Ruritan Club will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive family and friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and at other times at their home.
Al was born in Beaufort County on March 31, 1948. He was the son of the late Leslie Alston Cutler and Pauline Singleton Cutler. Al was a 1966 graduate of Bath High School and also graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in Agronomy in 1970. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of the Old Ford Church of Christ. He was a member of the CIA Sunday School Class, the Building Committee and the church choir. He was also an active member of the Old Ford Ruritan Club.
Al was married to Dottie Rawls on December 27, 1980. Also surviving are his two daughters, Atha Malissa Cutler and fiancé Carl Gurganus, Jr. of Durham, NC and Lesley Cutler Hodges and husband Grayson Hodges of Raleigh, NC. In addition, he is survived by his three sisters, Linda White of Gulf Breeze, FL, Dorothy Chrismon and husband Frank of Smithfield, NC, and Paula Radcliffe and husband Wayne of Pinetown, NC, his brother Mark Cutler of Washington, NC, several special nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, his aunts, Carol Boyd, Olive Godley, and Louise Singleton, as well as his sister and brother-in laws, Frank and Valerie Buck and Nickie Rawls.
