Nita Everett Purvis died on February 26, 2014, at her home in Washington, N.C. A graveside service for family and friends will be held at Hamilton Cemetery in Hamilton, N.C., on Saturday, March 1, at 11 AM. A memorial celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, March 2, at 3 PM at First Baptist Church in Washington, N.C. The family will gather with friends in the Family Life Center following the service. Both services will be officiated by Dr. Jimmy Moore and Dr. Greg Barmer.    Kevin Mitchell, Keith Mitchell, Chase Stallings, Steve Gruninger, Ethan Coltrain, and Michael Lee will serve as pallbearers.

Nita was born on May 29, 1949, to Edna S. Everett who survives, and the late Alvin O. Everett. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Washington where she served on the church staff for over thirty years as pianist, accompanist, and most recently, financial secretary.

Nita is survived by her husband of 46 years, Connell Purvis; her daughter, Tadge Jefferson and son-in-law, William; her son, Todd Purvis and daughter-in-law, Penny; and six grandchildren: Alma Kathryn and Reid Crouch, Morgan and Logan Jefferson, and Anna and Carla Purvis. Also surviving is her brother, Herbert Lee Everett and his wife, Claudia; nieces:  Jessica Rouse and husband, Roy; Addie Taylor and husband, Tommy; great-nieces: Georganna, Olivia and Daphne Rouse, and Isabelle Taylor; and a great-nephew Isaiah Taylor.
