Raymond F. McKinley

Mr. Raymond Frederick McKinley, age 99, a resident of Washington died Monday March 17, 2014 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Center.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday March 20, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Washington officiated by Dr. Jimmy Moore. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Jack Cherry, Stanley Edwards, Joe Rogers, Ray Lilley, Bob Paciocco and Donald Bunch will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends 1:00 PM until the funeral hour Thursday at the church.

Mr. McKinley was born in Waterloo, IA on October 9, 1914 son of the late Raymond Frederick Keiderling and the late Blanche Joels McKinley. He was a graduate of Washington High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He continued his military career and retired from the Navy Reserve. Mr. McKinley married the former Mary Elizabeth Whitley in September of 1935 who preceded him in death on June 3, 2001. He was owner and operator of McKinley Dairy Farm of Washington and worked in refrigeration repair for Maola Ice Cream Co. of Washington and retired from Sears of Washington as an appliance repairman. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Washington, a member of Big Swamp Ruritan Club, American Legion Washington Post 15, and Red Brinson Washington Memorial VFW Post 6088.

Mr. McKinley is survived by a daughter: Donna McKinley Congleton of Greenville; a son: Nicholas R. McKinley and wife Geraldine of Washington; four grandchildren: Beth Clark, Nicholas R. McKinley, Jr., Mary V. Tancredi and Grady F. McKinley and five great grandchildren: Grace, Sophia, Victoria, Isabella and Catherine McKinley.  Mr. McKinley was expecting the arrival of his sixth great grandchild. He was predeceased by his adoptive father: Russell McKinley; a brother: Albert McKinley and his son-in-law: Joseph W. Congleton.
