FRED W. MEECE

February 4, 1931 – April 1, 2014

 

Mr. Fred Winford Meece, age 83, a resident of 114 South Reed Drive, Washington, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at his home.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Second Baptist Church, West Fifth Street, Washington, conducted by Rev. Scott Setzer.   Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.

The following will serve as pallbearers:  Linwood Ambrose, Billy Braddy, Richard Gerard, Bruce Johnson, Ken Maness, and Cotton Rawls.

Clarence Beacham, Doug Currin, T.H. Evans, Jack Lynch, Tommy Lynch and Robin Perkins will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Meece was born in Easley, S.C. on February 4, 1931.  He was the son of the late Newton N. Meece and Lily Lusk Meece.  Mr. Meece owned and operated M & M Equipment Company in Washington for 39 years.  Mr. Meece was a member of the Second Baptist Church, where he was a past Deacon; member of the Men’s Sunday School Class and served on many committees.

Mr. Meece was married to the former Faye Wilson, who survives.

Surviving with his wife are one son, Robert K. Meece of Washington; one daughter, Sherry Meece Allgood (William) of Camden, S.C.; one sister, Bonnie Ellison (J.M.) of Easley, S.C.; one granddaughter, Allison H. Allgood of West Columbia, S.C.; and one grandson, William N. Allgood II of Clifton Park, N.Y.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.
