MOVING UP: M. Gerrit Slade, a Northside High School alumnus and Beaufort County native was recently promoted to Chief Health Services Technician CPO/E7 in the United States Coast Guard. Stationed in Kodiak, Alaska, Slade is one of two selected for the USCG Medical Administration Advanced. He is currently pursuing a BS in Health Care Administration through an education program. Among his medals and awards, Slade has received the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. Slade is also a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). His parents are Mike and Cathy Slade of Bath.
