FREDDIE EUGENE PATTERSON SR.

July 12, 1940 – April 9, 2014

 

Freddie Eugene Patterson, Sr., age 73, a resident of Hollis Dr., Blounts Creek, NC passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Veterans Medical Center, Durham, NC. There will be a graveside celebration of his life with military honors at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 12 at Island Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Henderson, NC officiated by Marshal Neatherly. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. The family will also receive friends Friday, April 11 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Hwy 264 E., Washington, NC 27889.

Freddie was born July 12, 1940 in Henderson, NC son of the late Louis Franklin Patterson and Annie Mae Ellis Patterson. He was married to Hilda Hoffman Patterson who survives. Freddie served his country in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1967. He had made Blounts Creek his home since the 1980’s. Freddie was a salesman with Hastings Ford. He was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church, Masonic Order 634 and Sudan Temple in Goldsboro, VFW and DAV in Washington, and Moose Club 1800. Freddie was also a member of the American Legion and A&A Scottish Rite Freemasonry, SJ, USA.

In addition to his wife, Freddie is survived by his sons, Freddie Patterson and wife Brenda of Roxboro, NC, Rodney Patterson and wife Shelia of Kitrell, NC, Richard Rose, Jr. and wife Amelia of Durham, NC and Kevin Rose and wife Jennifer of Columbus, GA; 10 grandchildren; five nieces; and one nephew.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Duke.
