This spring, the Pamlico Sail and Power Squadron is hosting three boating safety courses.
The first course, America’s boating starts April 17 and concludes April 24, will be held at the Brown Library. The course covers topics of boating terms, trailoring, storing, knots, lines, navigation, laws, marine radio and personal water craft.
After completion of the class, students receive a free six-month United States Power Squadron/Pamlico Sail and Power Squadron membership. The course also meets North Carolina Boating Law change requiring certification for anybody under the age of 26 operating a vessel with a 10 horsepower or more motor.
A three-hour marine radar seminar begins May 3 at the Park Boat Company. The class covers, radar functions, selection and operation under various conditions.
The final seminar is set for May 24, also at the Park Boat Company. It covers anchoring and understanding the issues and problems involving the methods used to anchoring.
