JUDY MCLAWHORN | CONTRIBUTED EN PLEIN AIR: The MATTIE Arts Center will host its 2014 Painting Workshops, starting Saturday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. This workshop will also be held May 17 and June 21. All sessions will be en Plein Air, weather permitting. During these comprehensive oil painting workshops, fine arts colorist Mark Hierholzer will guide participants in: impressionism, “the effect of light on color” and the nineteenth century painting style employed by such notables as Monet, Renoir, van Gogh, Gauguin and Matisse. Those who prefer working with acrylics, brushes or watercolor are welcome to attend. Participants may select any or all sessions: $50 for a full day or $30 for a half day. Oil painting supplies and materials are available for $10 per day or half day. Bring your own materials and supplies for other media. The MATTIE Arts Center is located at 10 Oyster Creek Road (Historic Courthouse) in Swan Quarter.
