GUILFORD RALPH SLADE

September 5, 1937 – April 15, 2014

 

Mr. Gilford Ralph Slade, age 76, a resident of Washington, NC died Tuesday April 15, 2014 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday April 18, 2014, at First Free Will Baptist Church of Washington officiated by Pastor Ron Bousquet.  Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers will be Robbie Slade, Tommy Norris, Elwood Ingalls, Shelton Cooper, Michael Harper and Wayland Alligood.

The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday April 17, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

Mr. Slade was born in Beaufort County on September 5, 1937 son of the late Gilford Franklin Slade and the late Maude Alva Rose Slade.  He was a 1956 graduate of Pantego High School and married the former Betsy Tingen.  Mr. Slade was a repairman with Sears until his retirement in 1995.  Following his retirement he was owner/operator of Ralph’s Appliance Repair as long as his health permitted.  Mr. Slade attended The River Church of Bath.  With a kind and gentle spirit, he never knew a stranger.

Surviving along with his wife Betsy of the home are two daughters: Amy S. Smith and her husband Sam of Greenville and Carol S. Ingalls and her husband Brian of Washington; a sister: Jacquelyn “Jackie” Boyd of Jamesville and two grandchildren: Ashlan Slade Ingalls and Avery Brian Ingalls.  He was predeceased by a sister: Ruth S. Brinn and three brothers: Thomas E. Slade, Robert M. Slade, Sr. and Cecil R. Slade.
