WILLIAM T. MOURNING

Mr. William Thomas Mourning, 98, of River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at White Plains Ministries in Belhaven. Burial will follow in Ware Creek Cemetery in Blounts Creek. Mourning was affectionately known as Bro Tom and Dad by many.
He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his children: Marilyn Mourning of Penn; Norman and Melvin Mourning, both of N.Y. and Dora Daly of N.C.; one brother, William Goldie Smith of N.C.; one sister, Ober Lee Smith-Hamberry of Va; grandchildren, Debra Hooker Cogdell (Rev. Dr. Douglas Cogdell) and Dion Mourning (Erica); great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Candice Cogdell; and a host of relatives who reside in and out of N.C.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and at the home of Rev. Dr. Douglas and Debra Hooker Cogdell, of 4261 Highway 264 in Washington. Arrangements are by Whitfield and Whitley Funeral Home.
