Those interested in adopting a pet should inquire at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility, 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East, from 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturdays. Because of overcrowded conditions, the animals listed are only available as indicated.

All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To see more animals available for adoption, visit www.petango.com/beaufortcountyNC, visit ENC Shelter Dogs and ENC Shelter Cats on Facebook or call 252-946-4517 for more information. The Humane Society of Beaufort County can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BeaufortCountyNCHumaneSociety.

Due to the Memorial Day holiday, the shelter will be closed through Monday and will open with regular hours on Tuesday.

Gabby

Gabby, that’s what I’m called, and I must admit that I am a bit talkative. I will engage you in conversation, but that’s just to tell you about myself.  I’m 10 months old, a female Tuxedo, with short hair and an adorable bobtail. I am extremely affectionate, sweet, curious, playful, calm, gentle, a purr-meister, a lap cat and I love to hug. As I don’t want to share you, I simply must be the only pet in the house. Come visit me and we’ll have a nice chat. I’m ready to go to my good forever home and I’m available Tuesday, May 27, through Monday, June 2.

Pops

Sweet as a Tootsie Roll — that’s our Pops. He came in as a stray, emaciated puppy with injuries to his head. At four months old, this very loving male, black with white, Labrador Retriever-mix pup is now healthy and happy. Pops needs tender, loving care and all he wants is to be near his person. Due to his head injuries, he does have vision problems in one of his eyes, but that doesn’t slow him down at all. Pops is ready for adoption to go to his good forever home and he is available Tuesday, May 27, through Monday, June 2.
