Ginger Shannon (Hodges) Finney, 74 of Seven Lakes, passed on Friday May 16, 2014 at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at 2PM to 4 PM on Saturday May 31, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
Mrs. Finney was born April 29, 1940 in Washington, NC to the late Marion Uriah Hodges and Carrie (Leggett) Hodges. During her life Ginger was involved in numerous child related and civic organizations. She was a leader of the Enfield 4H club who helped to initiate the 4H golf tournaments which raised money for various 4H facilities. She was a volunteer of the BackPack program in Moore County and worked with children at the Sandhills Children’s Center. Ginger was the Treasurer of the Women of Seven Lakes, as well as Treasurer of the League of Women Voters. She was chairperson of the Halifax EMC, Volunteers in Action committee, and a member and Chairperson for several years of the Women’s advisory committee of the NC Electric Cooperatives. She was also a participant in the group developing an organ donation program for the cooperative’s association.
Mrs. Finney is survived by her husband of 34 years, Michael Edward Finney, a daughter, Dawn Watkins of Concord, NC; two step-daughters, Elizabeth Smith of Winston Salem, NC; and Christine Thompson of Hendersonville, NC, four grandchildren; Jason Belthoff, Ashley Belthoff, Brianna Smith and Steven Thompson.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Belthoff and a brother, Marion Uriah Hodges, Jr.
