Mr. Henry Carlton Heady, age 68, a resident of 6715 Clark’s Neck Road, Washington, NC died suddenly Tuesday June 3, 2014 at his home.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday June 7, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Pastor Todd Parrish. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Justin Moore, Brody Moore, Gene Paul Edwards, Mylan Dawson, Jeffrey Mathis, Ronnie Stroud and James Ivey will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the funeral hour Saturday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

Henry was a 1964 graduate of Washington High School and served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam with the HHC,1st Battalion 12th Infantry Regiment, known as the Red Warriors. Upon returning home Henry obtained his electrician certification from Pitt County Community College. On October 16, 1971 he married the former Catherine Williams who survives. He worked for forty years at PCS Corp. of Aurora where he was considered an expert diesel engine machinist and craftsman. He retired in 2005. At home he was an avid builder, a creative engineer of new devices and a caretaker of wildlife. He enjoyed history and was active in the Beaufort County Genealogical Society. Henry was a devoted and exceptional father.

Survivors include his wife Catherine of the home; a daughter, Tiffany Nicole Heady and her husband Mylan Dawson of Charlottesville, VA; two brothers, Gene Paul Edwards and his wife Eula Mae and James Ivey all of Washington; a sister, Connie Womble of Washington; a sister-in-law, Diane Mathis and her husband Jeffrey of Grimesland; two nieces, Merida Mathis, Nicole Andrews and four nephews, Simon Gaskins, Todd Edwards, Glen Ivey and Thomas Alton Womble.
