“Buddy Boy” Gerald Glenn Brickhouse, Sr.
Feb. 11, 1941 – June 9, 2014

“BUDDY BOY” Gerald Glenn Brickhouse Sr., 73, of 5945 Soundside Road, Columbia, died peacefully at his home on Monday, June 9, 2014 after a long illness.

Born in Tyrrell County, February 11, 1941, he was the son of the late Moody Ellis and Naomi Liverman Brickhouse.  He was married to Joyce Keeley Brickhouse who survives.

“Buddy Boy” was an avid coon hunter and fisherman and was known as “the best carpenter in town”.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.  He was a member of Sound Side Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Sound Side Free Will Baptist Church.  Rev. Royce Reynolds and Glenn Brickhouse will officiate.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving in addition to his wife are sons Thomas Ellis Brickhouse and wife, Jackie of Mt. Olive and Gerald Glenn Brickhouse, Jr. of Columbia; daughters, Vonda Kay Brickhouse Gardner and husband, Dave of Surf City, Kimberly Brickhouse Nixon and husband, Joey of Edenton; a step-son, William Joseph Keefer and wife, Brooke of Albany, NY; a step-daughter, Anita Joyce Keefer and partner, Phillip Leader of Valatie NY; brothers, Dallas Moody Brickhouse and wife, Jenny of Norfolk, VA, and  Donald Lee Brickhouse of Cary; sisters, Barbara Ann Margolis of Orlando, FL and Bonnie Mae Austin and husband, Robert of Angier; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, four sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law.

“Buddy Boy” was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Ann Brickhouse Conner and his special brother-in-law, John M. Keeley III.

The family will receive friends at Sound Side FWB Church on Wednesday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and other times at the home.
