Allene L. Tenequer
May 13, 1921 – June 17, 2014

Mrs. Allene Leggett Tenequer, age 93, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at River Trace Nursing & Rehabilitation of Washington, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Dennis Davis. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Jimmy Leggett, Terry Leggett, Russell Leggett, Dennis Leggett, Jay Lynn Leggett and Ken Cottrell will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the greatly appreciated staff of the Spark Unit of River Trace of Washington, NC.

Mrs. Tenequer was born in Beaufort County, NC on May 13, 1921 to the late Joseph and Carrie Latham Leggett. She was a 1939 graduate of Bath High School. On December 25, 1948 she married Andrew “Andy” Tenequer, who preceded her in death on January 14, 2001. Mrs. Tenequer was retired after over 40 years of service as a controller at the Naval Air Rework Facility in Norfolk, Va. She was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, Va., and attended First Presbyterian Church of Washington, NC.

Mrs. Tenequer is survived by one sister, Carrie L. Boyd of Pinetown, NC.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Jay Leggett, Joseph “Bill” Leggett, Noah “Ted” Leggett, Myrtle “Myrt” Peele, Isabelle “Belle” Leggett Guthrie, Martha “Dick” Waters, Bruce Leggett and Russell Leggett, Sr.

The family will receive friends, one hour prior to the service, on Friday, June 20, 2014, beginning at 10:00a.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington, NC.

Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to the Beaufort County Humane Society, Post Office Box 8, Washington, NC 27889.

The family offers special thanks to the staff of the Alzheimer’s Unit at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Washington, NC, for all the love, care and respect they each gave to our sister and Aunt.
