Linda Rose Dennis, age 67, a resident of Bahama, NC died Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice of Greenville while surrounded by her family.

A memorial service will be held 2 pm Monday June 23, 2014 at Union Grove United Methodist Church of Bahama, NC officiated by Rev. Cheryl Lawrence.

Mrs. Dennis was born in Beaufort County on October 3, 1946 daughter of the late Henry Thomas Rose, Jr. and the late Lucille Haddock.  She was a 1965 graduate of Pantego High School and continued her education at Watts School of Nursing in Durham.  At Watts Mrs. Dennis earned her registered nursing degree.  She married William Burl Dennis on May 3, 1975 who preceded her in death on January 27, 2001.  Mrs. Dennis worked in nursing at Duke University Medical Center of Durham until her retirement.  She was a starter with the Pantego High School Warriorettes which was considered by many as the best girl’s basketball team in Pantego’s history.  Mrs. Dennis was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church of Bahama.

Survivors include a son: Chris Dennis and his wife April of Greenville; four grandchildren: Abby Dennis, Alexia Burch, Zachary Dennis and Wyatt Dennis; a brother: Johnny Rose of Greenville; two sisters: Donna Alligood and her husband Danny of Washington and Lisa Grubbs and her husband Benny of Blounts Creek; a niece: Sara Grubbs; two uncles: Donald Leoni of Charlotte and Ellis Leoni and his wife Lida of Belhaven; four cousins: Misty Lanning of Chocowinity, Angela Leoni of Charlotte, Grace Thorneburg of Charlotte and Cindy Foxe of Bethlehem, PA.  Mrs. Dennis is also survived by a devoted pet Sophie.

In lieu of flowers memorials are kindly requested to be made to Union Grove United Methodist Church, 9903 North Roxboro Rd., Bahama, NC 27503.
