Mr. Joseph Frederick Rehm, Jr. age 88, a resident of 239 Clarks Neck Road, Washington, died Friday, August 1, 2014 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Monday, August 4, 2014 prior to the service at the church.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Cedar Circle, Washington. Burial with military honors will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.

Mr. Rehm was born in Beaufort County on November 13, 1925. He was the son of the late Joseph Frederick Rehm, Sr. and Dessie Hobbs Rehm. Mr. Rehm attended local schools before transferring to Washington, D.C. and graduating from Chamberlain Vocational High School. He entered the U.S. Navy in January of 1944, reaching the grade of Petty Officer Second Class. In April of 1957, Mr. Rehm entered the U.S. Air Force. On May 31, 1964, he retired with the rank of Airman First Class.

When Mr. Rehm moved back to Washington, he worked at several different jobs including selling real estate. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mr. Rehm enjoyed genealogy and studying his family history. His hobbies included dancing, swimming, hunting, fishing, bowling and roller skating.

Mr. Rehm is survived by two brothers, Hubert H. Rehm of Raleigh and James R. Rehm of Pueblo, CO; and his niece and nephews, Mark, Michael, James, Jr., Timothy and Melody Rehm.
