Mark Anthony Kucas, 53, of Cary passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh.
He was born December 29, 1960 in Bellefonte, PA, a son of Stephen Thomas and Winifred Smith Kucas. He married Julie Dixon and they had 18 great years together and loved their son Cooper more than life itself.
Surviving are his wife Julie Dixon Kucas of Cary; his son, Cooper Thomas Kucas of Cary; his mother, Winifred S. Kucas of Fayetteville; sisters, Cindy (Ron) Gregory of Franklin, Margie (Tom) Rogers of Vass, Kathy (Doug) Bender of Fayetteville, and Debbie Seideman of Clarksville, TN; brother, Steve (Kelli) Kucas of Portland, OR; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Stephen Thomas Kucas.
Mark graduated from NC State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He was employed with McKee Building Group.
Mark was a wonderful storyteller. He was funny and kind. He loved his family dearly and was loved by so many. He faced his cancer with great courage and faith and will be deeply missed.
The family wishes to thank UNC Cancer Center, Rex Hospital Cancer Center, and Transitions Hospice for their respect and dignity to Mark during his brave fight.
A funeral mass will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Cary. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary with a Prayer Service at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Wake Memorial Park in Cary.
