WILMA SMITH THOMPSON

Nov. 21, 1929 – Aug. 12, 2014

 

Wilma Smith Thompson, 84, of Plymouth died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at her residence in Plymouth.

Born November 21, 1929 in Beaufort County she was the daughter of the late John Alva Smith and Jesse Proctor Smith and was preceded in death by her brothers, Danny Smith and Bill Smith.  Mrs. Thompson was a retired teacher’s assistant with Pine’s Elementary School for 25 years and member of First Baptist Church.  Because of her love for children she was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, a Sunday School teacher and also loved working in her flowers.

Her family includes her husband, Harry Rudolph Thompson, Sr. of Plymouth, N.C.; daughter, Wanda Kay Thompson and husband Tom of New Bern, N.C.; son, Ronnie Thompson and wife Beth of Plymouth, N.C.; brother, Marvin Smith of Belhaven, N.C.; grandchildren, Bryce Thompson and wife Krista, Brant Thompson and wife Pinky and Ron Thompson; great grandson, Gavin Thompson.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church, Plymouth with Reverend Terry Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington. Family will receive friends Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church and other times at the residence.
