FLEDA HOOTEN SMITH

Fleda Hooten Smith, 84, of Grifton, NC and formerly of Belhaven, passed away at Vidant Inpatient Hospice on Wednesday, August 27, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Louis Smith, Sr. Her survivors include her sons, Mark Louis Smith, Jr. and wife, Jo Ann of Hartsville, SC; John C. “Jack” Smith and wife, Cathy of Greenville; Wesley P. Smith and wife, Sheila of Washington; her daughters, Amy Smith Howard and husband, Billy of Grifton; and Lesley Smith Melvin and husband, Burnice of New Bern.  She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Grifton United Methodist Church, 207 McCrae Street, Grifton, NC, with visitation following.  At her request, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Voice of the Martyrs, P.O. Box 443, Bartlesville, OK 74005-0443.
