TILLIE EMILY MOORE

August 31, 1932 – August 24, 2014

 

Tillie Emily Moore, 81, born and raised in Washington, North Carolina, passed away on August 24, 2014.  In her honor a service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, August 31, at 1:00 pm at Old Ford Church of Christ in Washington for family and friends. Eddie Bowen will conduct the services and burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.

Tillie was born to the late Samuel David Moore and Myrtle Williams Moore of Beaufort County, Old Ford Community.  She graduated from Washington High School then traveled to California where she started and raised her family.  She had a long and successful career with the Lockheed Aircraft Company.  After her retirement in 1991 she took and played a very active role in the Hollywood Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for the remaining years of her life.

Tillie leaves behind a devoted and loving family including: three daughters – Brenda Susan Portzen and husband Michael, Sheri Anne Guevin, and Robin Deane Melton; seven grandchildren – Christo Pappageorge, Travis Broyer, Shannon Broyer Helms and husband Alfred, Justin Portzen and wife Chantelle, Natalie Guevin Krause and husband Robert, Casey Lombardo, and Colby Lombardo; and eight great-grandchildren – Tyler Helms, Calista Helms, Emmaline Krause, Ethan Krause, Justin Krause, Cooper Krause, Evan Helms, and Gage Portzen; brother – Robin Moore; sister – Colleen Lupton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Above all Tillie was a selfless and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who left a legacy of strength and love.
